Pets have been a part of human civilization since time immemorial. Ever since we have learned that they can be great companions in work and rest, we have tried domesticating a lot of animals.
Of course, there were some that never became fully domesticated or are too dangerous to even domesticate like the bigger animals.
However, there are some who made the cut and are still considered as pets even after all the years have gone by. Most of them are now in our houses waiting for us to go home or are already in our laps waiting for a scratch or cuddle.
Reasons Why We Need Pets
Now, there are a lot of reasons why we need pets in our lives. Some of us live alone and we need the companionship. Even if we have family members and friends around, a pet can still be someone that you can enjoy your time with.
It is a proven fact that having a pet around decreases stress and helps with mental issues. Some pets, especially dogs, are trained to deal with these kinds of situations as well. They are loyal and helpful to humans that’s why we must also return that with love and care. They may not have the power to speak, but they can easily understand our actions.
There are also some people who keep pets because they are really helpful in a lot of tasks around a home. Most dog breeds are great as guards or company for walks and other activities associated with nature and the outside world. They are also great hunters and most retrievers were bred for that exact purpose.
Cats, on the other hand, were popular amongst farmers and ranchers because they help with all the mice. Horses were for transportation while buffaloes were great in the fields because they can handle the heat while working. In the modern world, there are other animals which are becoming house pets like birds, guinea pigs and hamsters.
This is why we also need to look after them all the time. Most of us consider them to be family members already, so it is important that they are healthy all the time. We must feed them regularly and let them have enough water. Our homes should be welcoming to them even though it is understandable that there are places that they can’t access.
There are a lot of ways that we can show our love and care for our pets and it can be just as simple as cuddling them after a long day. You need it after all those stressful hours and your pet might enjoy that as well unless it’s a snake, alligator or something not domesticated yet.
Ways to Take Care of Our Pets
One of the many ways that we can take care of our beloved pets is by protecting them from any kind of pests. We know that some of these pets are really here for pest control like cats whose natural preys are the mice.
However, our pets are also vulnerable to small insects and pests can be a nuisance for them. It can also disturb you as well because your pets are in such discomfort. You don’t know what you can do to help them because these pests cannot be removed by your hands alone.
Here are some steps that you need to take to make sure that there are no critters disturbing your pets:
#1 Know the signs of an infection.
Depending on what type of pest affecting your pet, there are signs of symptoms for each of them. However, most of these pests are hungry for blood and they tend to cause itchiness when they suck the blood out of your pet.
If your pet dog or cat starts scratching themselves too much, then you might have a problem on your hands. If this is the problem, checking out products for pest eradication like the ones Pets Pest sell is a good idea. It is important to see these signs immediately but don’t panic yet because scratching can be a normal thing for your animals.
#2 Feel around your pet and inspect under their fur.
You can also do the hands-on solution and try to inspect your pet a little closer. There might be some bumps on their skin and this is a tell-tale sign of a tick infection. Look for these tiny animals around their necks or tails because these parts are their common ground for growth.
Don’t forget to wear gloves while doing this though because these ticks are horrible and they can bite you. You can use tweezers to remove them but make sure to clean it afterward.
#3 Go to the vet if you find anything suspicious or the condition worsens.
If all the ticks, fleas and lice are too stubborn, then you can always go to the vet to find solutions. You can’t just buy a pesticide on the hardware store because it can be dangerous for your pet. Most pet-friendly products can usually be obtained in your local pet store anyway.
Ask your vet for recommendations regarding what you can use for your pets. Some of these products can also specifically work for just one kind of animal alone so make sure to read the labels.
#4 Ask for help from pest control if the situation affects your entire household.
On the other hand, the infection may not be contained to your pets anymore. It can now be found everywhere in your household. From your carpets, sofas and even your own bed, these small animals can wreak havoc to your daily life.
It would be the best time to find the nearest pest control company and clean your house from all of these critters. You can also do the cleaning with your pets’ toys and beds.
There are also other ways that you can keep your pets from being full of pests. For example, you can always be careful when you walk them outside. Dogs can especially be victims of these pests because they have the tendency to run around.
Make sure to clean them well or brush their fur after a long walk. Also, be wary of stray animals that come close to your pet. Don’t hurt them, but keep them away since they can be afflicted with ticks or lice and they can infect your pet.
